The 2009 motorcycle roadrace season is nearing completion. We find ourselves back home in Virginia at the event that started us down the roadracing path, Virginia International Raceway and The Big Kahuna Nationals. It has been quite a year so far for us all. A West Point graduation, a daughters wedding in December, a future son in laws return from Iraq, a son racing the steel horses around these tracks. Many sleepless nights and bloodshot eyed days, the pride of reaching far, deep and beyond.
The bikes are fixed, the paint is shiny, the motors strong, the bodies fit and minds clear. This weekend with a fathers unimaginable pride and admiration I will raise our flag. We will think of 2nd Lieutenant Stephanie Lazo and 1st Lieutenant Ilya Ivanov somewhere doing what they must. We will think of "The Regulars" and we will let all we meet know. Alex will do what he now does best and carry the message of tradition and sacrifice on the sides of those bikes, more so in his heart. For now partly by chance, choice or default we are joined to something much greater, this family we call "The Regulars by God"
